Mowing-day checklist
A good day starts the night before. Write your own one-page version and keep it in the truck. One glance keeps every lawn sharp, fast, and safe. Mornings should be coffee and driving, not scrambling.
- Night before: load and secure the trailer, fuel up, and check the mower, trimmer, and blower are ready and gassed
- Night before: confirm a spare mower blade and spare trimmer line are on the trailer, plus basic tools and spark plugs
- Plan your route order: move in one direction through the neighborhood, hitting lawns in geographic order instead of crisscrossing (a saved route in your phone works too)
- At each lawn, walk the property first: pick up rocks, sticks, toys, and debris before you mow
- Step 1 - Mow in efficient overlapping lines or a pattern so you leave no strips
- Step 2 - Trim the edges and the spots the mower cannot reach: fence lines, around trees, posts, and beds
- Step 3 - Edge the walkways, driveway, and curb for the crisp line customers notice most
- Step 4 - Blow all clippings off the driveway, walks, and patio so the property looks finished
- Safety reflex: never aim the discharge chute at people, cars, windows, or the street; throw clippings toward open grass
- Safety reflex: keep people and pets well back, keep hands and feet away from the blade, and shut the mower off before clearing a clog
- Safety reflex: drink water constantly, take shade breaks, wear a hat, eye and ear protection, and closed shoes, and start early to beat the worst heat
- Before you leave, look at the lawn from the street the way the customer will see it, and straighten anything that looks off
- Ask happy customers to go weekly and to leave a review, and hang door hangers on the nearest fifteen houses
