Readiness check

Is your layout built on good control or guesswork?

Construction layout is only as good as the control it comes from. Lay out from a disturbed point or the wrong datum and the whole building is in the wrong place. Answer for how layout actually runs on your site. The score stays on your device; enter an email only if you want the layout checklist sent over.

1. Is there an established, surveyed control network (benchmarks and control points)?
2. Are the control points protected and checked before use (not disturbed)?
3. Are you laying out on the correct coordinate system and datum (site vs building grid)?
4. Is the tool matched to the work (total station for tight points, GPS for site and earthwork)?
5. Do you lay out to the tolerance the work needs (anchor bolts tight, walls looser)?
6. Do you pull layout points from the coordinated model where one exists?
7. Is the layout independently verified before the pour or the install?
8. Do you capture an as-built to confirm what was actually built?
