ANVILFIELD Try FieldOS

Readiness check

Will your living wall thrive or brown out?

A living wall fails when it is treated like a big planter instead of a building system. The killers are water against the building, an irrigation failure, and no maintenance budget. Answer for how the wall is actually designed and serviced. The score stays on your device; enter an email only if you want the living wall readiness checklist sent over.

1. Is the wall behind it waterproofed and protected from constant water and roots?
2. Is the irrigation automated with recirculation and fertigation (not hand-watered)?
3. Is there irrigation redundancy and an alarm so a failure does not kill the wall?
4. Is the structure designed for the saturated weight (water, media, plants, system)?
5. Are the plants chosen for the actual light and climate (interior vs exterior)?
6. If interior, is there adequate grow lighting for the plants?
7. Is drainage handled (collection, overflow) so water stays off the floor and building?
8. Is there a maintenance budget and service plan (pruning, replacement, irrigation checks)?
